Dilan supports universal, free childcare for children under 5, as proposed by Mayor Mamdani and Governor Hochul. He has worked to expand pre-K and 3-K throughout New York and is working to reopen the shuttered Audrey Johnson and John Coker Day Care centers in North Brooklyn.

Tate supports fully funding public schools, filling shortages of teachers and counselors, supporting restorative justice programs, adopting sex and consent education, and rejecting unfunded mandates that strain educators.

Dilan opposes cuts to Medicaid and Affordable Care Act subsidies, and defends safety-net and public hospitals. He supports fixing nurse staffing shortages, closing insurance coverage gaps for young people, immigrants, and freelancers, and backed the state’s billion-dollar investment in expanding mental health care.

Tate believes healthcare is a human right and supports passing the New York Health Act for universal healthcare, fully funding hospitals that serve the community, and protecting access to abortions, gender-affirming care, and maternity supports.

Erik Dilan prioritizes protecting tenants and keeping homes affordable. He led the fight to pass the strongest rent laws in a generation, chaired the Housing & Buildings Committee on the City Council, and supports legislation to bring more lower- and middle-income homes to Brooklyn and keep private equity investors out of the market for small homes and rentals.

Tate supports creating a Social Housing Development Authority to build hundreds of thousands of permanently affordable homes statewide, expanding Good Cause eviction protections, defending rent stabilization, passing the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act to support tenant organizing, expanding the cease and desist zone, and adopting a tax on speculative home flipping to fight displacement.

Dilan believes ICE should be abolished. He supports legislation allowing residents to sue ICE agents for civil rights violations and keeping ICE away from sensitive locations like churches, schools, and hospitals. He is committed to protecting immigrants in New York and defending their rights.

Tate opposes collaboration with ICE and supports passing New York for All to prohibit state agencies from cooperating with ICE, guaranteeing access to representation for every New Yorker in deportation cases, and passing the MELT Act to prohibit law enforcement from concealing their identities while on duty.

As Chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Corrections, Dilan led the passage of the Correction Reform Law of 2025 to increase accountability and oversight in state prisons. He champions criminal justice reform including the Clean Slate Act, Second Look Act, and Earned Time Act, and supports reentry programs, emphasizing that fairness and public safety should be delivered together.

Tate advocates for community investment and prevention as the foundation of public safety, including funding summer and after-school programs, violence interruption, expanding mental healthcare and substance abuse counseling, and improving visibility on Broadway and Fulton.

Tate argues the federal government is abusing its power and calls for the state to tax the rich to fund housing, healthcare, safety, and dignity, rather than cave to Trump's demands.

Tate supports passing the Not on Our Dime Act to prevent New York nonprofits from funding illegal Israeli settlements and human rights abuses, standing with New Yorkers exercising their right to protest, ending training collaborations between the NYPD and Israeli Occupation Force, and supporting workers taking a stand against using New York infrastructure to export genocidal weapons.
