Grace Lee passed the Hate Crimes Modernization Act, the first strengthening of New York's hate crimes law in 20 years, expanding the list of offenses that can be prosecuted as hate crimes.

Niou has fought against sexual harassment and racial discrimination, passing critical legislation to protect survivors, and has been a voice for the AAPI community, LGBTQ+ folks, people of color, and the disability community.

Grace Lee has passed Good Cause Eviction protections, secured $400M in ERAP funding for NYCHA and Section 8 residents, expanded Housing Access Vouchers, cut property taxes for Mitchell-Lama buildings, and passed new affordable housing programs including 485-x and office-to-residential conversions. She is fighting to freeze rent, protect SCRIE/DRIE benefits, extend J-51 tax abatement, fund NYCHA, build social housing, and create more affordable housing through office-to-residential conversions.

Niou believes housing is a human right and has fought for tenant protections, including passing the historic 2019 Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act, expanding rent regulations, closing loopholes that fuel displacement, and funding right-to-counsel for tenants facing eviction. She continues to advocate for renters in Lower Manhattan against corporate landlords.

Grace Lee introduced the ICE Contract Transparency Act requiring companies doing business with New York State to disclose contracts with ICE. She fought for and helped secure legislation to end most state and local cooperation with ICE, forbid ICE agents from wearing masks, ban contracts between local jails and ICE, keep ICE out of schools/hospitals/places of worship, and empower New Yorkers to sue federal agents for civil rights violations. She also supports the New York for All Act, MELT Act, RADAR Act, New York Civil Rights Act, and SAFE AIR Act.

As an immigrant herself, Niou champions the passage of 'New York For All' to protect fellow New Yorkers from ICE. She has worked to advance legislation strengthening New York's sanctuary protections and safeguarding communities targeted by ICE.

Grace Lee stood with labor to include wage standards in the 485-x housing program, fought for cost-of-living adjustments for human services workers, supported the LLC Transparency Act, and supported stronger protections against wage theft. She co-sponsors legislation to strengthen worker safety protections, combat wage theft, and protect whistleblowers. She supports reforming Tier 6 pension plan, closing loopholes in 485-x to protect wage reporting, and building affordable housing on state-owned land with prevailing-wage jobs.

Niou supports the labor movement, advocating for pro-union policies, investments in public goods, and a statewide $30 minimum wage by 2030. She has fought against austerity budgets and always puts workers' interests above corporate interests.

Grace Lee passed the Stop Hiding Hate Act to hold social media platforms accountable for hate speech, helped pass the FAIR Business Practices Act, raised fines on lawbreaking corporations, and capped real estate listing agreements. She is fighting to revoke tax breaks for private universities, ban junk fees, end corporate price gouging including algorithmic price-setting, and hold crypto scammers accountable.

Niou has not taken corporate donations and has fought for transparency and accountability in government, standing up to systemic corruption. She supports fair taxation of the ultra-wealthy and closing corporate loopholes.

Grace Lee helped pass a law to protect abortion providers from harassment and intimidation, secured $36 million in state funding for abortion access, passed legislation to protect sensitive health data, and campaigned for Proposition 1 to strengthen reproductive freedom in the state constitution. She is fighting to protect survivors in civil court, protect survivor DNA privacy, and rein in crisis pregnancy centers.

Niou has worked to defend access to abortion, including advancing legislation to protect reproductive rights against attacks from the Trump administration.

Grace Lee sponsored and passed a bill requiring the NYC Board of Elections to notify elected officials within five days of any polling place change. She supports banning ICE from being near poll sites and reforming the redistricting process to ensure fairness.
