Housing costs, tenants and new construction

Central to the race

New York already has a good cause eviction law, and the Legislature votes on changes to it and on the rights of co-op owners and renters; the choice is how much state policy should focus on tenant protections and keeping units affordable versus loosening rules so more housing gets built.

Nachman Carl Caller

Pledges to push rezoning that would allow new housing development and to cut regulations that hold back housing growth. His campaign says he helped develop thousands of Boro Park housing units as a real estate investor and attorney, sought tax breaks in City Hall and Albany for landlords and developers building rentals, and wrote a 16-page housing plan.
