Their priorities

Issues David is raising that aren't a shared debate across the field.

  • Tax the Rich and Affordability

David Orkin supports taxing the wealthiest New Yorkers and corporations to fund services for working families. He advocates for the NY HEAT Act to end fossil fuel subsidies and lower utility caps, freezing electric and gas rates, banning summer utility shutoffs, and expanding blackout reimbursements.

  • Technology and Digital Rights

Orkin will secure ConnectAll grants for broadband access, prevent misclassification of gig workers as independent contractors, require direct employment by last-mile operators like Amazon, introduce just cause deactivation laws, support the Ban the Scan slate to prohibit biometric surveillance, back a moratorium on new data centers, ban surveillance pricing, and close loopholes in the Digital Fair Repair Act.

  • Climate and Energy Affordability

Orkin will freeze electric and gas rates, ban summer utility shutoffs, expand blackout reimbursements, restore the full CLCPA, implement the Build Public Renewables Act to build publicly owned renewable energy with union labor, and work to have the state take over ConEd to transform it into a public utility.

  • Child Care and Higher Education

Orkin champions the Universal Child Care Act for free, high-quality care for all New Yorkers, and a New Deal for CUNY to restore tuition-free, well-funded higher education.

  • Universal Healthcare and Care Worker Rights

Orkin supports the New York Health Act for universal healthcare, Coverage for All for low-income immigrants, the Fair Pay for Home Care Act, fully funding the transition from 24-hour to split shifts for care workers, repealing the Global Medicaid Cap, lowering prescription drug costs, and ending insulin copays.
