Orkin will secure ConnectAll grants for broadband access, prevent misclassification of gig workers as independent contractors, require direct employment by last-mile operators like Amazon, introduce just cause deactivation laws, support the Ban the Scan slate to prohibit biometric surveillance, back a moratorium on new data centers, ban surveillance pricing, and close loopholes in the Digital Fair Repair Act.

Orkin will freeze electric and gas rates, ban summer utility shutoffs, expand blackout reimbursements, restore the full CLCPA, implement the Build Public Renewables Act to build publicly owned renewable energy with union labor, and work to have the state take over ConEd to transform it into a public utility.

Orkin supports the New York Health Act for universal healthcare, Coverage for All for low-income immigrants, the Fair Pay for Home Care Act, fully funding the transition from 24-hour to split shifts for care workers, repealing the Global Medicaid Cap, lowering prescription drug costs, and ending insulin copays.

Housing Affordability and Tenant Protections

Orkin will fully fund NYCHA, expand the Housing Access Voucher Program, advance the Social Housing Development Authority Act and Jobs and Housing Act to build permanently affordable union-built tenant-governed housing, and strengthen Good Cause Eviction protections statewide. He also supports the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act, comprehensive property tax reform, and the New York State Right to Counsel Act.

Orkin will champion the New York for All Act in full (including banning informal cooperation between local law enforcement and ICE), enforce the Dignity Not Detention Act, support the EmPIRE Worker Protection Act, the Access to Representation Act, and Coverage for All to provide health insurance regardless of immigration status.

Worker Rights and Wages

Orkin will pass the EmPIRE Worker Protection Act to allow workers to recover unpaid wages directly, raise the minimum wage to $30 by 2030, establish hourly minimum wage and protections for gig workers, fix Tier 6 pensions for public sector workers, and create quality jobs through QueensLink, green energy transition, and revitalization of Atlantic and Jamaica Avenues with local hiring incentives.

Public Transit Improvements

Orkin will fight for the Fix the MTA Act to freeze fares and expand the Free Bus pilot program, push for 5-minute rush-hour headways on M and J trains, build the QueensLink, keep the Interborough Express on schedule, restore the Woodhaven Junction LIRR station, and lower in-city LIRR tickets to the subway fare with free transfers.
