Thomas P. DiNapoli is the 54th and current New York State Comptroller, first elected by the legislature in 2007 and subsequently elected by voters in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022. Fiscal Stress Monitoring and School Accountability
DiNapoli created a Fiscal Stress Monitoring System to inform taxpayers about the state of their local government finances, and increased school accountability by auditing every school district and BOCES in New York State on a rotating cycle. He also uncovered widespread abuse of special education funds by private contractors.

Diversity and Inclusion in Finance
DiNapoli developed an Emerging Managers program to break down barriers that limit career options for women and people of color in the financial sector, and uses shareholder influence to increase diversity on corporate boards.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption
DiNapoli has exposed corruption, fraud, and theft of taxpayer dollars, resulting in nearly 300 arrests and millions recovered. He has also toughened penalties for officials who abuse the public trust and public funds.
